I created a book of poems entitled, "Psalms of Evelyn" and gave it to my sisters, brother in law, nieces and nephews and my dear friend and sister Asmeret as a Christ-mas gift.
Below you will find one that explains our love and honor for my mother as she transitioned to be with Jesus...
Having never met her physically, they yearn for their grandmother’s
embrace
Oh what joy it would be
if David could once again rub on Nu-Nu’s face.
If Gia could hear her
yell “Judy’’ and be engulfed in her grandmother’s touch.
Steven Jr. would be
elated if he could sit and discuss the world around us, basketball and many
other political things of such……
And, sweet little Jadah
would leap for joy to converse about God with “Nu Nu”…Jadah would love telling
“Nu Nu” of all the times she’s felt Jesus near her, it’s true.
Beddar would lie beside
her while Steve would say “Ms. Squire, do you need anything?”Chaya would sip
coffee with her and Zoie would write a poem expressing her adoration for their
Dearest Mother for there will never, ever be another. Oh, how we miss you sweet
Mother….
As she prepared to meet
her savior, she would steal away to pray
Asking the Lord to
protect us and guide her children and children’s children along the way.
For she knew the pain we
would feel not having her physically to hold
She said, “Dearest Lord,
promise me you will comfort them as they journey without me on this road!”
The Lord replied, “Yes,
Evelyn, I will do as you have asked…I will never forsake them and all that you
decreed over their lives shall come to pass”
It was then that Mommy
knew it was okay to take her last breath and to move from earth to her eternal
heavenly place.
She saw the face of
Jesus, though physically blind, she was ready to meet him face to face.
She quickly glanced over
her home and spiritually kissed all of her children and grandchildren on the
cheek.
As she stood side by
side with Jesus, a tear fell as she journeyed beyond the mountains peak.
Jesus whispered,
“Evelyn, you have mirrored me in your earthly life and because of this, your
children and children’s children are the bride of Christ.
They will go on to do
great things in my name….”All Glory to God” is what they will proclaim.
Let’s go Evelyn… they
are prepared and equipped to continue your legacy.
You have done well my
dear daughter…. Soon you will see them all in eternity.
And, what a reunion that
will be….I will be there to welcome them all…FOR I AM CHRIST, YOUR MAJESTY!
This is eloquent & beautiful.
